AUSSIE HELPERS LONGREACH REGION RESCUE MISSION
Aussie Helpers Founder Brian Egan said that the rural charity was sending a team of volunteers this week to the Longreach, Ilfracombe and Winton areas to assist Farmers/Graziers with the massive problems associated with the ongoing drought, he said that the charity was receiving calls for assistance on a daily basis.
Mr Egan said that Farmers in the South Burnett and Brookstead (west of Toowoomba) areas had responded to his calls for assistance and more than one thousand round bales of hay have been donated which will compliment the four hundred bales already transported to the Longreach area.
Wilmar Bio Ethanol will also be donating one hundred thousand litres of supla base (liquid stock feed) in conjunction with donations of lick from Ridley Agriproducts and three thousand Flo Packs from Bayer Animal Health, Mr Egan said that as well Foodbank Queensland has donated several pallets of food hampers and bottled water.
Mr Egan said that psychological help financed by Aussie Helpers and Lions International (the Federal Government Health Minister Susan Ley declined an offer for her department to assist) will also be available free of charge from OPTUM Psychologists who Aussie Helpers will fly in from Brisbane to treat people needing counselling on farm, he said that Aussie Helpers volunteers will be calling on every station to speak face to face to the landowners.
